Redneck Red Coats

Occasionally I use the word redneck here, and I end up launching into a 10-minute explanation of the meaning of the word, using examples from Sweet Home Alabama(the movie) and Johnny Cash songs. They are, in a way, similar to Chavs. But as rednecks are indigenous to southern North America, I didn’t think there were any of the species – as such – dwelling in the United Kingdom.

I was wrong.

Last night I was walking home from work when I passed the Grape ‘n’ Grain – our local off-licence(that’s like the ABC store, Americanos). Something in the window caught my eye. It was this:

Redneck manger scene

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen. That’s a nativity scene balanced on three beer bottles.
