My Redemption Baby

I took this picture of Koa this week as we sat on my unmade bed.  Adlai was napping in the other room, and Koa had woken up, happy as usual.  Even as I type it, it seems impossible.

“As usual.”

He is my redemption baby.  My colicky-screamer-turned-bundle-of-joy.

He is my living, breathing proof that things can turn around at any moment.

I cannot look at him without gratitude welling up inside of me.

First, he nearly killed me.

Then he gave me life.
