If you follow me on Instagram or are a fan of my photography Facebook page, you’ll know that I spent most of the month of December in North Carolina, where I’m from. It was pretty great, aside from the weird, gray, hot, muggy, wet weather. And one of the greatest things about it was that I had the chance to shoot a few sessions in the US of A.
One of the loveliest things about this job is that it’s 100% portable – I mean, I can literally do it anywhere. So when we decided to spend a few weeks in North Carolina over Christmas, I put the word out that I’d be willing to shoot a few sessions there.
Laura contacted me immediately when she saw my Instagram post, and asked me to do a lifestyle session for her family. She had this idea that she thought was crazy for them to all wear their jammies and bake cookies, since that’s what they love to do together, and I assured her that it was most certainly NOT crazy, but actually flipping brilliant.
Cookie-baking meant her kids were entertained and focused on that for an hour, rather than on me…and it also meant that I got to eat cookies. So, you know, I was all in.
At the last minute, Laura’s husband Scott had to work, which was super sad, but we still got some great photos of Laura and the kids – and I assured her I’ll be back soon so we can do some other awesome lifestyle shoot.
I’m feeling food trucks, Laura, how about you? Or the State Fair? Deep-fried everything?
