A little over a year ago, my husband started a job at the homeless project that was founded by our church over 20 years ago. He wanted to serve the poor and broken, and he does a great job. But what we didn’t expect was the change that has taken place in Simon. His view of the homeless, of his own life, and of God has been turned completely on its head. You might even say he’s found his calling.
The King’s Arms Project does amazing work here in our town, just north of London: from getting the homeless off the streets, to supporting them in a halfway house (where Simon works), to helping them move on and become independent.
The work is hard and heartbreaking, but the rewards are huge.
If you’re at a crossroads in your life, looking for a way to serve, or wanting some adventure, I highly recommend considering coming to Bedford for a year to be a part of The Project.
It will change your life. Not to mention you’ll be close to me and, if you’re American, you can help me inundate England with good coffee, good baking, and good sweet tea.
