Things are different now.
Over Christmas, I was offered an amazing job in North Carolina. So, I took it. I moved here two days ago, I start tomorrow, and Simon is following me as soon as his VISA comes through. It’s not the ideal way to do things – leaving your husband behind for a month while you make a big move and start a new life – but it’s the life we’ve become accustomed to, and we feel sure we’ll be rewarded in the end.
As for my job, Hallelujah! I’m the new editor of skirt! Raleigh and Carolina Bride. This is pretty much exactly what I wanted to do at this point in my life, and I feel blessed that someone’s going to pay me to do what I want to do.
You know when you spend hours praying – begging – for things to change, and you just can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel? We did that. A few months ago, I swear that the words, ‘Is this what life has to be like?’ came out of my mouth. Dee-pressing. But, once again, as with many other times in my life, I am surprised and amazed by perfect timing, and life doors flinging themselves wide open for us to walk through.
So, here I am in North Carolina. Over the next few weeks I will be buying a car, getting a new cell phone, buying a house, buying new furniture, launching the first edition of skirt!, finding a new church, making new friends, being excited as my husband arrives, and celebrating my first anniversary.
Stay tuned, it’s gonna be a good one.
