I am terrified of becoming a Mommy Blogger.
Seriously.
The thought of it petrifies me. It’s probably the same part of me that is desperate to maintain the ability to talk about things like art and food and music, and not sprinkle every single conversation with recommendations for diapers and formula and complaints about my baby’s sleeping habits and whether I’ve chosen to “Ferberize” him (Ferberize is a word I just learned – it has to do with letting your baby learn to fall asleep on its own. But I never knew that.)
See? It’s already happening. New vocabulary. Next I’ll be changing my blog theme to green and pink polka dots and wearing monogrammed jewelry, and making my kid wear a john-john till he’s twelve.
Please help me.
i am so there…this would be the reason i have not posted anything new to my blog in 4 days. nothing cool and non kid related has happened…
I’ve been thinking about this – I think it’s fine to write about your kids, cause hello, they’re awesome and you love them. It’s maybe just the inability to write about anything else. Someone who does this really well is Ree Drummond over at The Pioneer Woman. So go ahead, tell me about Sam and the trampoline – just don’t make him wear a john-john.
There is nothing wrong with monogrammed. jewellery
Helen, I LOVE your monogrammed jewelry. This is the kind of stuff I can’t cope with.
I concur – that is awful!
I started my blog when I realised that I was in fact a mom with nothing hugely more exciting in my life than that! And so rather than dread it, I chose to embrace it and find my humor and my spirituality in the drollness of my everyday. Don’t worry, you’ll still be a very cool chick even if you lose all that you think is cool about yourself for a time.
LOL! Wait until you start learning all the acronyms… CIO, BTC, PDF, LEAN, AP, IPT, EC, 7 Baby B’s…..
Don’t fear it, Faith! I think a good mommy blog is a sign of a healthy attachment developing! I personally look forward to reading about your adventures as a mom! Aviel has brought some much creativity into my life and I’m sure the newest Dwight will do the same for you!
