One of my favorite photographers, Pranee Loffer, shared a quote on her blog recently that I loved/hated:
-Henri Cartier-Bresson
I loved it because it gives me hope when I take a really sucky photo. I hated it because I hate to fail, and in the past I’ve been known to give up on things I’m not immediately amazing at (and there have been a lot). But photography has been a real passion and dream of mine for a long time – something I’ve put off doing for years for various (stupid) reasons (I’ll tell you more about this later), and I’m not giving up. No sir.
So I’m going to go ahead and get those first 10,000 worst photographs out of the way as quick as I can.
I’ve taken a lot of photos over the past couple of months. A LOT. And so I thought I’d share some of them with you. Some of them, I’m kind of proud of. Others, not so much. But with each, I see what I did right, and, more importantly, what I did wrong. And that’s the only way to learn.
- My friend Sarah’s little Sam.
- Adlai’s buddy Tom-Tom.
- Our friends Mickey and Malachi.
- A pile of girls named Cerys, Addien, and Macy. Maybe the most fun I’ve ever had taking photos.
- Adlai and his tongue.
- And, just for good measure, my baby sister being a skank. Bless her heart.
*Mom, I’m sorry I used the c-word in my blog title today. If you like, you can wash my mouth out with soap when you come visit (in 2.5 weeks!).
That is a great quote and one I need to remember as well! x
I tend to try to work on the 1% rule even then not everybody agrees with my selection from my own work. Judging your own work is the hardest thing because are to attached and close to it.
If I shoot 1000 frames in a week I would like to expect 10 reasonable pictures if I have stood in front of something visually interesting and have pressed the button at the right time with good lighting.
I think HCB ment it takes 10,000 pitures to know where the right place and time is.

Love these! The third one down is my favorite.
I will do that! I saw another no no word in the body of your blog…what has become of you!
Faith.
