They were all yellow.

March 23, 2010

I’d like to propose a little challenge.

Yesterday, I went out with my camera, in search of all things yellow.  It’s amazing how colorful the world becomes when you tune your eyes just right.  All of a sudden, Chesham was bursting with glorious golden hues.

Here’s what I found…

Daffodils blooming by my in-laws’ front steps.  (In related news, there is apparently a daffodil shortage.  Who knew?)

The front wall of a house down the street.  I love this one.

Yellow peppers at the supermarket.  This is where Simon started to get embarrassed.

This one brings me immense joy.  I was shooting the charity drop box, but then, lo and behold, the sign round the corner was yellow too!  I am so lucky.

Signs for rail replacement services.  Chesham is on the Metropolitan line, which is never NOT undergoing maintenance.  Please don’t look at this one too closely, as I did some quick-and-dirty photoshopping to remove a large lady on a scooter.

Another street sign, obviously.

I laid down in the road to get this shot.  It was dangerous, but hey – danger is part of my life.

And finally: The Lotus.  Simon didn’t want me to take this one because, he said, it would only add to the driver’s already massive ego.

You get the picture (yuk yuk yuk).  Now it’s your turn.  Set out today with your camera (or your phone, or whatever) and find me some yellow.  Email them to me, and I’ll choose some lovely submissions for a yellow post on Friday.

Happy hunting!

Come to Amsterdam on 30 April and see if you can take pictures of orange things. You might be able to take a few… here and there…

I stumbled across your blog, thanks to Twitter (I’m @getaclewis), and love this idea! Your photos are gorgeous. It’s only 6am, and yet I feel the urge to sneak around my house in search of yellow! (Think my teen son would mind if I snap his Spongebob boxer shorts? 😉
